Using Inertia's local microfactory enabled us to get our first batch of sensors out of the lab and onto the market at a fraction of the time it would have taken to set up a large volume run, shipped from elsewhere. Their engineering team also helped refine our process to improve manufacturability for future production

We needed a partner who could design, manufacture, and supply-manage our smart lock hardware product so that our team could focus on developing our core services and IP, which is access control and encryption software. The Inertia team certainly delivered on the hardware, which helped us focus on our core and scale our business. Inertia continues to be a key partner in our growth and success.

Why Start-Ups and SME's Should Consider Managed
Contract Manufacturing

Faster Time to Market

When managed effectively, utilizing the high-quality equipment, skills and processes of a contract manufacturer can speed up your product launch and allow you to enter the market more quickly than if you were to build a factory and set up the processes yourself.

An early market entry gives your business an edge over your competitors as it allows more time to grow market share and profits.

Focus on your Core Competency

Even if you have the resources to build the necessary teams in-house to take your product from design through production, it might not be practical or in alignment with your business's core competencies.

Outsourcing tasks such as electro-mechanical assembly, materials sourcing, manufacturing, assembly and even shipping can conserve internal resources to concentrate on your core business activities.

Single Point of Contact

A vertically integrated partner with experience managing a variety of product launches will efficiently handle your project from concept to completion and help you decide what's best for your business, considering multiple factors beyond the basic evaluation of piece-price.

They will be equipped at each stage of the process with technical and practical knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing processes and solutions to common issues, saving you valuable time and energy.

Reputable Partnerships

Trust is the foundation of any successful contract manufacturing partnership. A company specializing in contract manufacturing management will already have established connections with reputable and transparent contract manufacturing companies in your field.

By choosing the right contract manufacturer, you can avoid supply chain disruptions, noncompliance with standards and regulations, and quality control problems.

Scale Production

Start-ups and SMEs can scale their production easily by leveraging the resources and capacity of their contract manufacturing partner. This is especially beneficial to start-ups that are experiencing rapid growth and need to ramp up production quickly to meet demand.

A contract manufacturer provides a flexible and scalable solution to meet increasing demand without making significant investments in production infrastructure.

When Your Reputation Is On The Line,
Quality is Everything

Whether you've come to us for end-to-end design product development, build-to-print manufacturing or something in between, our team takes quality control seriously.

Our Quality Management System (QMS) is ISO9001 compliant, and our team is trained in common quality management methodologies including, but not limited to:

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)

  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

IQ, OQ, PQ (the 3 Q's)

  • Installation Qualification
  • Operation Qualification
  • Performance Qualification

As your manufacturing solutions integrator, Inertia will manage your project in its entirety to help control timelines, implement quality management systems, troubleshoot and tame issues in the manufacturing process, and provide concise summary reports.

Contract Manufacturing Options

On-Shore
Manufacturing

On-shore manufacturing occurs domestically. This option offers greater visibility, communication, and control with the manufacturer. It also reduces shipping costs and is less likely to incur shipping delays or damages.

However, on-shore manufacturing may not be the most cost-efficient nor be able to offer access to skilled labour.

Off-Shore
Manufacturing

Off-shore manufacturing is when the production or assembly of goods is relocated to another country. Companies may opt for off-shore manufacturing because labour costs in another country are lower or access to raw materials is easier and cheaper. There may also be tax and regulatory benefits.

On the other hand, barriers such as longer shipping times, time zone differences and language are common downsides to off-shore manufacturing.

Near-Shore
Manufacturing

Near-shore manufacturing occurs in a nearby country that is easily accessible by land transportation, usually within or close to your local time zone.

This option usually has fewer shipping complications and delays and fewer language and cultural barriers than off-shore manufacturing.

Re-Shore
Manufacturing

Reshore manufacturing refers to the reversal of off-shoring, where companies return production to their home countries from off-shore locations.

Right-Shore?
Manufacturing

Right-shore manufacturing is selecting the optimal combination of off-shoring, on-shoring and near-shoring for your business, industry and product. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and the best option depends on your unique needs, time, budget, and the current economic and geopolitical environment.

Right-shoring enables access to benefits such as tax incentives, shorter lead times, reduced shipping time, access to skilled workers, reduced reliance on human labour, reduced inventories, and better protection of intellectual property.
