I feel an extra sense of pride when members of the Inertia team champion their own charitable efforts and inspire us all to get involved. Lisa Cooper, an engineer at Inertia, was inspired by the Canstruction food drive competition and decided to organize a similar event with the team here.
For Lisa’s version of the event, 2 teams made up of Inertia staff competed against one another by bringing in non-perishable food items to build the most impressive structure. The two structures were judged based on 3 criteria: (a) number of food items used (b) height (c) aesthetics.
Competition was fierce, as it often is at our company events. Both structures came in at exactly the same height (84 inches) and were deemed equally fantastic by the judges. Team #1 did however emerge victorious by having 7 more items in their structure.

Once the competition was done, we gathered up the non-perishable goods and donated them to The Community Share Food Bank. Established in March 2004, the Community Share Food Bank (CSFB) is a volunteer-run organization, which works in cooperation with community members, local churches and service organizations to provide food to those in need within the community.
